Annual Band Concert
The Band Concert in April entertains a capacity audience each year, soaking up a nostalgic afternoon of song, merriment and melody in Turner Hall.
MWCDG work hard with our County Councillors to ensure this gentle stroll down memory lane is enjoyed by everyone in attendance. Visitors are treated to free tea and cakes during the interval.
Over the years brass bands have included the Pleasley Colliery, Kirkby Colliery, Sherwood Brass and the Nottinghamshire Police Band.
Supporting tribute acts range from The Rat Pack, Engelbert Humperdinck and Abba.
Party in the Park
June’s Party in the Park attracts thousands of residents to a whole host of open air entertainment including live music, fairground, activities, stalls, and a variety of refreshments in the beautiful surroundings of Yeoman Hill Park.
MWCDG closely engage with partner organisations including St. Edmund’s Parish Church, Mansfield District Corps of Drums, The 4th Mansfield Woodhouse Scouts, The W.I. and The Old Mansfield Woodhouse Society to plan and organise the Remembrance Day Service and Parade each November.
Starting with a parade through the village, attendees make their way to the cenotaph on Yeoman Hill Park to pay tribute to those who fought and fell in conflict. Afterwards a full service is held in St. Edmund’s Church before relocating to the Pleasley Vale cenotaph and St. Chad’s Church for a mirrored event.
Each November MWCDG encourages the community to come together on the Market Place to celebrate the start of the Christmas season.
Carols, live entertainment, seasonal refreshments, festive music and a special visit by Santa Claus all help to create an enjoyable ambience before the big count down commences to welcome Christmas to Mansfield Woodhouse.
The conclusion of our social interactions, MWCDG’s Christmas Event in December takes place in Turner Hall and consists of a range of charity fundraising stalls, live music, entertainment and seasonal refreshments.
Each year the lounge area is transformed into a magical winter wonderland, complete with Father Christmas in his Grotto to meet youngsters and receive wish lists personally.
All of MWCDG’s events are intended to stimulate social interaction, tackle loneliness and isolation as well as help local charities and community groups to engage with residents and raise vital funds for their cause. All events are free at the point of entry and risk assessed to ensure public safety at all times.
